Clan Hell’s Horses: Combined Arms the Clan Way

Clan Hell’s Horses challenges the assumption that Clan warfare revolves almost entirely around elite BattleMechs. From its earliest campaigns, the Clan treated armor, infantry, aerospace forces, Elementals, and ’Mechs as parts of an integrated system rather than placing every other branch beneath the prestige of the MechWarrior. This episode explores how that combined-arms philosophy developed during Operation KLONDIKE, when Hell’s Horses commanders used BattleMechs as visible threats while conventional units delivered decisive attacks. The same principle continued through mobile warfare, artillery support, mechanized formations, and occupation forces designed to hold territory after frontline warriors moved on. The Horses have also shown greater willingness than many Clans to incorporate freeborns, bondsmen, and local institutions when practical necessity demands it. Combined arms does not guarantee sound strategy, however. Political leaders can still choose poor objectives or mistake territorial expansion for strategic success. Hell’s Horses became distinctive because they placed the mission above the prestige of any single weapons platform. Visit ImaginedBattlefield.com for more military and science fiction.
