Nicholas Kerensky and the Second Exodus
Nicholas Kerensky inherited his father’s name but not his unquestioned authority. After Aleksandr Kerensky died and the Pentagon Worlds descended into civil war, many senior Star League officers rejected Nicholas’s claim to command. Rather than fight those rivals for control of a collapsing state, Nicholas organized a Second Exodus to Strana Mechty. This episode examines the evacuation of roughly one million soldiers and civilians, including much of the surviving Navy, two loyal BattleMech divisions, scientists, technicians, industrial resources, and equipment essential to building another society. The move saved a large population from the Pentagon Civil War while concentrating military and economic power under Nicholas’s authority. On Strana Mechty, he concluded that the old Star League’s institutions, identities, and family loyalties had failed twice. His answer was not restoration but reconstruction.
