Operation KLONDIKE: The Clans Conquer the Pentagon
Operation KLONDIKE was the campaign through which Nicholas Kerensky’s new Clans returned to the Pentagon Worlds and destroyed the fragmented powers that had emerged from decades of civil war. This episode examines the years of reconnaissance preceding the invasion, Clan control of space, and the 2821–2822 campaigns across Arcadia, Babylon, Circe, Eden, and Dagda. Four Clans were assigned to each world, creating cooperation but also dangerous competition over bids, objectives, and prestige. The fighting exposed characteristics that would define Clan warfare for centuries: disciplined small formations, aggressive maneuver, strong aerospace support, ritualized rivalry, and an uneven understanding of occupation. Some commanders won cooperation through medicine, water, or negotiation; others relied on collective punishment and overwhelming force. The campaign ended with the fall of the Black Brian on Dagda. Nicholas celebrated KLONDIKE as proof of his social order, although the victory demonstrated the Clans’ effectiveness at conquest more clearly than their legitimacy as rulers.
