The Second Star League Falls and the Road to Jihad
By 3067, the Second Star League had accomplished the mission that justified its creation. It had liberated Clan-occupied worlds, destroyed Smoke Jaguar as a major power, and defeated the collective Crusader claim through the Great Refusal. Success did not give the alliance a durable purpose. The former Federated Commonwealth states emerged from civil war exhausted, Sun-Tzu Liao saw decreasing value in continued membership, and national governments wanted their troops and resources back. This episode follows the Fourth Whitting Conference, Christian Månsdottir’s failed attempt to force renewed commitment, and the vote that dissolved the League. For the Word of Blake, which had tied enormous political and religious expectations to admission and restoration of the Star League, the decision became a catastrophic trigger. Blakist extremists already possessed hidden armies, WarShips, networks, and prepared plans before the vote. The conference did not create the coming Jihad. It removed the final political restraint from forces already prepared to turn disappointment into war. Visit ImaginedBattlefield.com for more military and science fiction.
