Clan Wolverine: The Not-Named Clan and the Price of Defiance
Clan Wolverine became the most forbidden name in Clan history after its political conflict with Nicholas Kerensky escalated into secession, nuclear destruction, and the first Trial of Annihilation directed against an entire Clan. This episode examines the reforms associated with Khan Sarah McEvedy, disputes over resources and authority, Operation Switchback, and the Wolverine attempt to escape Clan space. The history is complicated by deliberate falsification. Evidence indicates that rivals helped provoke the crisis and that important nuclear attacks attributed to the Wolverines were not actually their responsibility, although Wolverine forces also used destructive military methods during their withdrawal. Nicholas ordered the Clan erased biologically, politically, and historically, making even its name taboo. Yet not everyone was destroyed. A surviving force probably appeared in the Inner Sphere as the mysterious Minnesota Tribe in 2825, but the ultimate fate of those refugees remains unresolved. Clan Wolverine matters because its suppression helped define how far Clan authority would go to punish open defiance. Visit ImaginedBattlefield.com for more military and science fiction.
